Audio International North Little Rock - Consultant
Company develops custom aircraft software for audio-visual entertainment, control of lights, shades, and monitoring waste water levels.
- Displays of the software package change as the executable receives messages over the network.
- The initial phase was to renovate and adapt a touchscreen package that was originally intended for small aircraft so that it could work on a large aircraft with multiple zones. This software works on embedded Windows 98 computers over Ethernet and RS-485.
- From previous experience I was able to organize the software so that channel assignments and commands could be modified without inadvertently causing the software to malfunction.
- Additional features added to the software package included the following:
- The ability to retry commands up to 3 times if there is no response.
- A built-in monitor so that one can examine the traffic over the RS-485 network. This monitor exhibits the data and the descriptions of the data.
- The software was organized so that two developers could modify the software at the same time in multiple zones.
- A stand-alone version of the monitor was also developed. Threads were added to the touchscreen application and the standalone monitor to ensure that data is presented as soon as it is received.
- The overall quality of the software was so enhanced that there are minimal problems in installing equipment on the aircraft. Previous projects on smaller aircraft were held back as the software was being tweaked and debugged.
